Cancers have become one of the common diseases today. One of the most important stages in cancer treatment is oncologic surgery. An appropriate surgery performed within oncological principles plays very important role in the success of the treatment.

Breast Cancer

​

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women. In rare cases, it can be seen in men also. Today, with the development of new surgery techniques, targeted chemotherapies and new radiotherapy techniques, this disease has become a treatable disease.

In the past, removal of the entire breast tissue and axillary lymph node in breast cancer was a standard procedure. Nowadays, it is not necessary to remove the entire breast tissue in the treatment of breast cancer. Current breast cancer surgery, also called BREAST CONSERVING SURGERY, involves the proper excision of the tumor only and afterwards the evaluation of involvement of the axillary lymph node with special methods and removal of the axillary lymph nodes if there is metastasis. It is possible to get an aesthetically better results due to the removal of the tumor and the protection of the breast. In addition, it is not necessary to remove the axillary lymph nodes in patients not having lymph node metastasis. Thus, situations such as swelling-lymphedema in the arm that may occur after the axillary lymph node excision process are prevented.

Bowel Cancer

Intestinal cancers are one of the common cancer types in our country. Surgical treatment is one of the main elements of bowel cancer treatment. Nowadays, RADICAL RESECTIONS constitute the basis of surgery in bowel cancer surgery. Radical resection means wide removal of the diseased intestine and intestinal lymph nodes. These surgical procedures can be done afterwards and also before chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments. This depends on location and stage of cancer.

Gastric cancer

Stomach cancer is a type of cancer that is not very common in our country. However, it is important because of its rapid progress and delayed diagnosis. The most important stage in the treatment of this disease is surgical treatment. The goal of surgical treatment is RADICAL RESECTIONS, that is, the wider removal of the diseased part and the surrounding lymph nodes. Sometimes it may be necessary to remove the entire stomach.
